Deb's Lake Conroe Real Estate & Stuff! : Bill, Armondo, Hugh, Alex and All Christianity in Real Estate Members!!!

Bill, Armondo, Hugh, Alex and All Christianity in Real Estate Members!!!

Praise You my Lord for coming to this earth as a man, to die for my sins and my salvation. Praise you and praise the holy name of JESUS.

Amen to that Hugh. Contrary to popular belief, I do believe in our Lord Jesus Christ. I know I ticked you all off! That's not what I meant to do!

I was raised by a Doctor of Philosophy (my mom) and have heard hundreds of points of view. She too believed in the Lord. At the same time, her job was to teach "open mindedness" and different viewpoints. This does not mean that she taught other sects or religion, just that the world is not just black and white.

Man did write the Bible. Have you found anything anywhere that says differently??? It was written through God's word but interpreted by man. Thus, there are many discrepancies within the Bible itself. Man's interpretation of God's word.

If you're Baptist you say you can't drink wine. Yet, at the Lord's supper HE served wine to his Disciples. The Lord turned water into wine for HIS people to enjoy...so, why does it say NOT to drink? All we can do is interpret the word of the Bible because again, man is not perfect. Your idea of the meaning of a quote may be totally different than the person sitting next to you. This does not mean that one is right and one is wrong.

Your LITERAL MEANING could easily be different from others. If you would like me to leave this group because I don't completely agree with you I will leave with no hard feelings.

Have you read the Gospels of Saint Thomas? These scrolls are thought to be the ACTUAL WORDS stated by Jesus Christ Himself.

I don't think the writings take anything away from the Bible itself...the quotes just add insight. You might find it interesting reading! Merry Christmas all!  God Bless You All! Deb

Interesting blog Debra. I have a close relative who won't drink wine. She says her interpretation of the word is that in means "grape juice". I read Hebrew and the translation is simply not correct. it means wine. Anyway the bottom line here is that people will believe what they choose to believe. Respect for those things is what is important. A very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you Simon for understanding what I'm saying. God gave us minds to reason and understand. He gave us individuality as distinct as a snowflake. How could we all possibly agree on everything? Merry Christmas right back at you! Thanks for your blessing. Deb

Who said you got a whole bunch of us mad, Deb....
you have not done that to me....

Jesus' words were spirit and truth......
not just literal words in black and white....

One of the stated rules of this group is to NOT
knock anyone for a praticular viewpoint about Christianity--

ie:

  • Food
  • Holy Days
  • Drinking (NOT drunkeness)
  • Other grey areas

"The Kingdom of God is NOT about food or drink...
it is about righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit...."

If anyone has a problem about that verse, I need to know about it...SOON....

We had a problem about this last year...
I do not want to repeat it....
THAT person left the group AND ActiveRain©

Let me know if there is someone bothering you, Deb....

We can work this out....

=-)

I have to disagree with some of your post Deb, the Bible is the LITERAL WORD of God...no ifs, ands or buts about it!  Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2008!

Hey Mary, I respect your opinion too! There is a literal meaning for each of us! You have a wonderful Christmas also and remain safe and sound! Deb

Alex, You see, I still believe we all have the right to our own interpretation literally! I think I'm just making a lot of people feel uncomfortable about my beliefs. I'm sorry about that. I always have had strong opinions, a big mouth and a reason to write! That's just me. I like the fact that we don't all have to agree.

I have not and will not tell you or anyone else what to think. I have my own relationship with God and our Bible...and let no man attempt to become my God. No one has to agree with me! I'm still going to keep selling houses and practicing my LMC. I've become a Loss Mitigation Consultant to help people save their homes from foreclosure. I pray I can help to improve lives! Deb

Deb

WHat a refreshing post. I guess there are others out there that believe the same way I do.

What we believe is between us and  the Creator. It is He that will decide. It is NOT the job of people to decide where other people will reside on the other side.

Mary Ellen, Thank you so much. I believe that all people have the right to believe as they choose. The key word to Christianity is Christ. That about covers it all! Merry Christmas Mary Ellen. Deb

Deb,

First off Don't even think about leaving.I love reading your posts and you speak from your heart.I was brought up going to church on Sunday's and attending private school. All those years the only thing I knew about the bible was that the priest read from it on sunday. Then in high school we had a religion teacher who was going to teach us about the bible. He was a brother and I,ll never forget what he said, it was the last time I paid attention. He said the bible was written in parables and that we had to remember it was written for some of the most uneducated people in the history of the world(the Jews) but now we knew better. He said do you really think noah took two cockraoches on the ark..So the Bibles were just stories but I was supposed to believemen, some of which I grew up knowing to much about.

Well i believe if God could create the world he could write the Bible, and yes I do believe Noah had two of everything on the Ark. As far as the Book you mentioned , sorry I believe all believers are Saints of God but I have a feeling thats not what that book means. I believe the canonization of saints is Idolatry.

If I bothered you I appologize, if you left this group ,I'd have to look all over to find you, I,m just passionate about the Lord, you shoud here me with unbelievers,.

Merry CHRISTmas and God Bless You

Deb - of course it's all open to our own choosing.  After all - isn't that what free will is all about?!?

One of the things I find so exciting about living in this time, Debra, is that the realms of Science and Spirituality seem to be overlapping more and more, which is what I believe was one of the primary messages behind the teachings of Christ.  Maybe if we all had more open and honest communication about religion/spirituality like this, we would all come to the realization we're not so different!  (Remember, the basis behind three of the top religions--Islam,Christianity, and Judaism--are all based on the same text--the Koran, The Old Testament, and the Torah).  Same, same...

Hello Deb, Pleeeze don't even think of leaving. This is a great dialogue, a great way to exchange differing ideas. I'm always open to listening and learning and I've learned from you. I respect you thoughts, ideas and point of view. I enjoy the interaction that we have here, in part because it makes me go back to the Bible, reread and research it to verify what we say. Your comments and post help keep me on the right track. You ARE helping to improve lives!

Yes different parts of the Bible seem to contradict themselves and there will always be differing interpretations. But IMHO I think that's because we're not meant to fully understand it until the final day.

That makes sense if we believe what Paul said,

1Cr 13:12Now we see things imperfectly as in a poor mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.* All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God knows me now.

Regardless of what we think about the Bible, the greatest thing we can do for each other is to love each other as Christian brothers and sisters. I do.

So let's keep stimulating our hearts and brains until the final day! :-)

Merry CHRISTmas to you and yours and may God continue to Bless you!

BTW, I've also recently had LM training and hope to help those in Foreclosure

Hi Deb,

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!

I do agree with you that discussions are a good thing and it is important to TRY to be open minded enough to listen to other view points.  Lately, I've been noticing how different versions of the bible seem to interpret/translate some passages differently in seemingly significant ways than is in my trusty old NIV version.  At times, I've given up on trying to figure out how they got from point A to point B.  I try to view this as God's way of trying to get me to stop and think.

I'm really glad that the guys made you realize that they do not want you to leave.  I look forward to getting to know you better.  Grace and peace,

Debra- Each person in the world has the right to worship and believe what they want to believe. That is a choice. God gave us agency. I do not agree with things others say and others do not always agree with me. I have an open mind. I study all of great teachers. I believe that Jesus is my savior and king. Many people do not believe my religion is Christian but we are. I do believe in the bible so far as it is translated correctly and that the King James Version is the closest to that true translation. It was written by man through the power of the holy ghost.  I do not believe in drinking alcohol or taking drugs, or any other addiction prone things. I believe in respecting the temple of Christ, if Christ lives in me, than my body is a temple and I must revere it as such. Great discussion. Katerina

Hi Katerina, I agree with you wholeheartedly that we are all given the right of choice and free thinking. I too believe in Jesus as my Savior and God as our ultimate power. I also agree that the body is our temple. This is stressed in a couple of the quotes of the Lord in The Gospels of Saint Thomas. He wants us to live a long and healthy (pure) life. I believe the Bible tells us to be responsible with drink. I want to thank you for your testimony and God Bless you and Nestor. I love reading your writings and will see you around the Rain! Have a great 2008! Deb

Fiery conversations. Everyone has the right to believe and everyone has free will. In my heart and mind i believe the Bible to be the TRUE words of our Lord Jesus Christ. One cannot tell another to believe the same thing but one can hope they do. Be Blessed..
