Deb's Lake Conroe Real Estate & Stuff! : I'm mad now. Better known as "mad now" disease.

I'm mad now. Better known as "mad now" disease.

I'm mad now and I wanna hurt somebody! As Americans we are entitled to our privacy. We are to have no Big Brother looking over our shoulders and we don't have to answer to anyone but our families and the IRS.

My hands just started shaking. That's how it affected me. My heart palpitated and my nerves jumped on edge! I felt violated and abused. I wanted to scream! In fact I did. I did scream.

I'm sitting here working on my weekend showings. I'm concentrating with several calls out to set my appointments and firm up my times. I'm in an organizational stage that could make me a success or a failure with my itinerary. Bottom line...I'm working.

My cell phone rings...I answer with my most professional posture. "Hello, this is Debra".

The voice on the other end said...Are you aware that your automobile warranty is about to expire? If you don't hurry ...

A recording. On my cell. On my private working tool that helps to support my family.

I freaked. I pushed the delete button #7 and it came back with...Are you aware that your, etc, etc. I pushed it and pushed it again. It kept playing and playing till I turned it off. This now means I have a skipped message and I will have to listen to it all the way through before I can erase it?

Whoops, there goes more time spent with this phone call...

I was upset enough to write this post.

I am still shaking a little thinking about the times I'm going to be on the road, I'm expecting a call so I answer it and what I get is....

...Are you aware that your automobile warranty is about to expire? From a recording.

How do I nip this in the bud? We should all get mad.

Oh no.  I always get excited when the cell phone rings, thinking it's from that potiental client, and when it's a salespitch instead, OH NO! They find us everywhere!

I hate those recorded messages too or anyone calling my cell phone that shouldn't be. I think you can put your cell phone number on the "Do not call registry."

Debra,  I got that same call today but on my house phone, their computers must be busy, but I could just hang up.

I get those all of the time on my phone. I think the more we are present in the Internet with websites etc. The more we will be SPAMMED like this.

This is driving me nuts. We have 5 lines at the office. Each line rings with that same auto message and like you Missy I can hang up. But this really rattled me on my cell. I'm calming down a bit. I am going to have to look into the do not call list. I placed the home phone on it but it didn't stop anyone.

This is just nuts What an invasion of privacy.

Yes it is sooooo irritating! I hate when I get sales calls on my cell or even worse recorded messages like yours. I added my cell to the do not call list. It helped but....

I agree with Susan.... that's exactly how expireds and fsbo's feel when we call them.

Okay, Hugh I'm breathing. It really shot my blood pressure up in a hurry! I don't think I would want to repeat what I wanted to say to them.

Martha, it doesn't really stop them and they know it would take a shovel as large as Dallas to dig through the red tape and do anything about it.

Slap Slap to you telemarketers!!!

Christina, I quit calling FSBO's for that very reason. I drop them a letter. At least they can't hang up on it!

Debra ~ You can do the Do Not Call on your cell phone.  I don't know how much it helps since I get calls that say "restricted" or "unavailable"; those calls I do not answer and surprisingly, no one leaves a message!

Deb it happens all the time. No one calls the home phones any more (or much) because everyone has a cell. I agree with you on FSBO's. I drop a packet and follow up with a letter.

Kathy, I plan to register ASAP. I know they can only do so much but it really wrecked my nerves today. I think I over reacted but Hum...yeah, I did. This didn't even show a blocked number. I'm going to have to watch it closely. Later in the rain~Deb

Maria, It's the first time it's happened to me that I know of. They weren't kidding about needing auto coverage. They could cause a wreck! Later in the rain~Deb

Deb, EXACTLY what Kathy P said. I have found out, if they aren't really serious, they won't leave a message. IF they are REALLY wanting to talk real estate, they will leave a message. If the phone number comes in restricted, unknown number OR EVEN PRIVATE NUMBER, I don't answer it. Again, IF it's real estate related, they WILL leave a message.

As for as you having to listen to the message over & over, I just learned this about my phone. When the message starts, hit the #3 several times. It will take you to the end and then the question asking you to save or delete. MOST of the times if you do this, you can then hit the #7 and it will delete the message.

Keep breathing LONG BREATHS! It will be okay. Have a GREAT weekend and Happy SELL'ng.

The telemarketing is outrageous, Someone called my home at 7:59am.  I was so mad they woke my baby. I wanted to reach thru the phone and choke them.
Posted by DeAndrea "Dee Dee" Jones, The NorthernVARealEstateLady & DMVRealEstateChick (Home Buyers Marketing II, Inc.) over 11 years ago

Kathy! 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 3- and any other numbers that'll get rid of them! I may just change my message too. If this is real estate related I will call you right back but if you are a machine then #&*#(@*#&#^# to you.

I'm breathing. I love this business. Telemarketing sucks.

Dee Dee, Not the baby! I'm so sorry. Now I feel bad for being mad. You have the good reason to be. It makes you want to go vigilante ! Later in the rain~Deb

That "IDIOT" has called me 3 times now. Each time, I speak with their young telemarketer, and kindly explain that none of my vehicles have an extended warranty, so how could it expire???....AND, since I'm on the Federal 'Do Not Call' list, WHY are you calling me in the first place????

Rich, They are relentless. Remember the old whistle by the phone trick for prank callers? I may just burst a few eardrums.

Oh, this doesn't bring out my good side.

Deb, received the call on my home number this evening about an hour after I read this post.  (I didn't comment the first time I read it).  At least it didn't come in on my cell phone.  All 3 of our numbers are registered with the Do Not Call List.

Debra, now, now, it will be OK, gotta watch that blood pressure :).  I hate them too, but since that's how I made my co. and built my business I just let it go, and hang up.  Sometimes if I'm not too busy I'll even listen to their sales pitch, I might learn something.  A recording is a pain in the arsh, and if they can't spend their time to call and just send a recording thats really annoying, but again...gotta watch that blood pressure :).  Be sure to put your cell on the do not call list, it will cut down on 99% of the junk.  Liz

Wish I could have been a fly on the wall, to hear your conversation with the phone and the recording :)

If I am to believe all of the automated calls I have received recently, I have won tons of contests I never entered; my home, office, auto insurance have been dropped, canceled or soon to be out of force many times. I have more free pizza's than I could ever eat just waiting for my ok.  But it is the "unknown number" call with no one there that drives me crazy. Take a couple deep breaths, that works for me.

Hey Deb, it's me, Jud again.  I got really upset with a home security company earlier in the week!!  They've been calling me for about 2 weeks now.  When I answer, I hear their "spiel" then they transfer me to a sales rep. - that's when I receive another recording saying all sales reps are busy and the next available rep will help me.  I kept hanging up but they kept calling -- last Sunday they must have called every 2 hrs. -- finally Monday morn. while getting ready to go to the office, I got the call -- so I held on until the next available rep was able to help me -- and I requested (in a not very nice tone to remove me from their calling list NOW!!!).

Debra - The do not call list helps, but not completely.  I got calls all day for days when the election caucus was due.  They were calling Realtors - where do you suppose they got my number?  I hate the wasted minutes, too.  But I do like the "mad now disease" label - I have to laugh at that.  Thanks!

May be you need to add your cell phone number to the DO NOT CALL list.  It is a federal directory that you can put your phone numbers on so that you will not get those annoying calls.
Posted by Serena Brown (Taylor-Brown Real Estate) over 11 years ago

Judi, they simply think we have nothing to do but sit and listen to their canned spiel. Yuk. Would I ever admit I had a telemarketing job...Nawwww....not me. You just keep hanging up.

Virginia the call lists are worthless. It's just another step in the red tape no-one would ever have the patience to follow. I'm glad it made you laugh. Later in the rain~Deb

Serena, I am going to do just that. I haven't found time yet but I will. Good reminder. Deb
