Deb's Lake Conroe Real Estate & Stuff! : If I Only Had A Brain

If I Only Had A Brain

A command. Just do it may work for a shoe company. But, it doesn't really mean anything without the why, how and the total psychology of the reason...with people, compassion, intuition, responsibility, truth, ethics and common sense.

Example: outline of buyers guide.

Show them properties.

Whatever? It's not that simple. Tons of diverse phsycologies are involved in the showing of homes from the beginning "nice to meet you," to what's important to you? Location, price, amenities, schools, playgrounds shopping, work, family location, church, you don't just do it.

You must perceive. You must watch and be intuitive towards the unspoken word of expression and body language. You must listen to the inflection of the voice and the way it is delivered. You must watch for signs. You must follow the signs. You must listen with more than your ears.If I only had a brain...

You do it with care. With knowledge, understanding, patience and work.

Robotic actions don't get it. They don't reach into the human psyche and soul to find the answers...but a good sales/service person does.

A good sales person cares enough to do so. A good salesperson cares more for his client than himself. All of this will be returned tenfold. Give and ye shall receive. This is true in your real estate business too. As well as your relationships with family and friends. You reap what you sow.

Possibly the command "just do it" means to use each and every God given intuition, sensual perception, emotion, compassion and feeling and work those attributes into a power or strength to find happiness for your fellow human.

That's what I call Real Estate.

You don't just do it. Or, maybe you do.

Do you?

Debra, I feel honored to help someone with what is probably their biggest investment.

Posted by Marchel Peterson, Spring TX Real Estate E-Pro (Results Realty) over 10 years ago

I just had a crazy couple of days and your words couldn't be truer.    At the end of my day I said to a relo client who was very grateful to have me in his corner  "isn't in interesting how some people defuse a situation and others escalate it??"

Listen and think before you speak..   do react out of emotion..   Thanks for summing it all up

Marchel, your heart and your head are in the right place! But, then I always knew that about you.

Desiree, I can't claim to have never been on both of those sides but I always prefer the "white Hat side". It makes you feel good doesn't it? Even if it doesn't accompany a pay check it's good. very good.

For me, Just Do It, means to get out there on the prospecting side.  Once I have a client, the thinking cap takes over and I serve their needs.  You need both.

Posted by Robert Machado, CPM MPM - Property Manager and Property Management (HomePointe Property Management, CRMC) over 10 years ago

Robert, that's a terrific attitude. Yes, you do need it on both sides! With a winning attitude like yours you just won't lose and neither will the customers you work with! Thank you.

Deb, hon... you're gettin' deep. I like it!

We sell homes with hopes and dreams... hard to automate that. :)

Hi Jesse! I'm just tired. Most of my fun drains away and I'm left with my analytical brain...or not??? Something like that! I plan to post to your new group. Just be patient with me...whew. This weekend I hope.

BTW, Jesse, I would choose you for my Realtor...you bet.

Hi Deb...To you and to me real estate is not just sales, it is providing a service.  That is why we can not just do it by rote.  (I didn't say boat...get your head out of the water.)

I'm glad Jesse is in Alaska so I can be your REALTOR at Lake Anna!

Cheers,

Kathleen

You really can miss a lot if you overlook non-verbal queues when dealing with others in any situation. Professionalism rather than salesmanship is much more important in my business dealings. I really view salespeople as looking at the short term picture that rarely encompasses referrals and repeat business. I like to forge relationships based on honesty and fairness that help to generate future business.

Way to go Debra!!!  Spoken from the heart and it felt.  Such true words.  There's more to what we really "Do" than just opening doors.

Deb, What a terrific post!  I not only have to hear WHAT my clients are saying but also what they are NOT saying.  It's an important part of connecting and doing your best job for them.

Hi Deb, your hair looks really pretty in your new picture!  I like it.

Your statement, "You must listen with more than your ears." is so true.  As is, you need to care more for the clients than yourself.

Nice job!

Deb, showing homes you are right is much more than just "doing it." Great change of pace with the new photo too.

Posted by Gary Woltal, Assoc. Broker Realtor SFR Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty) over 10 years ago

Hi Deb,

That is why I tell new agents that it takes a year to even learn the basics. In that year they can also find out if they can make a living and if they like it.

All the best!

Hello Deb,

Thanks for the invite.  For my first entry into the diary....

My daughter is pregnant with my first grandchild (maybe first) and my daughter-in-law with my second.  They are due 3 days apart.  So, I guess I will be writing about my experiences as a new grandma.

Thanks, again for the invitation.

Posted by Laura Kombrink (RE/MAX Alliance) over 10 years ago

Laura, well congratulations Grandma! You're gonna have your hands really busy soon enough! So, when are the due dates? Wow, what if they have twins? Insta-granny!

Good luck and I can't wait to hear all about it!

Love the title of your post and actually a favorite saying of mine. This is a great post about finding out what buyers are looking for - asking the right questions and actually listening to their desires.

Deb,  I find it difficult to work with people without truely connecting.  That's what it's all about.  Mike

Posted by Mike Miller (EXIT REALTY SERVICES) over 10 years ago

Sharon, that's exactly right! It's that connection of caring and listening that makes all the difference.

Mike, thank you. The idea of "just making a sale" doesn't appeal to me. I want to make lasting friendships. You understand!
