Deb's Lake Conroe Real Estate & Stuff! : The Beatles Were Marvelous Dahling...

The Beatles Were Marvelous Dahling...

The Beatles Were Marvelous Dahling...

They were simply wrong...

Now, when I was 7 years old it seems they knew exactly what they were talking (singing) about. Everything that came from their guitars and wonderful angelic voices meant the world to me. I lived, breathed, hummed, swung, and did the mashed potato to the Beatles. Truth be known I don't know what the mashed potato is but it sounds cool. I do remember the twist. It was a few years before me but I won a contest or two with it! Man,could I dance!

I've always felt that I missed the "meat" of any particular era. I looked back with envy to the tight angora sweaters, poodle skirts and saddle oxford shoes. I looked at the "sit ins" and the riots in the streets of the 1970's but was attempting to grow up during that time instead of rebelling. I once wore a dress that reminded me of Jackie O but that's about as "today" as I got.

I actually grew up believing that "All I needed was LOVE". Go figure. That's what they told me. Now, I find myself facing stark reality and I know there is much more to need.

Anyhow, in memory of The Beatles....here it is...All you need is love.

Deb, I think this is still true. Am I delusional?? I have such a simple brain and a HUGE heart to love or be broken : )

Debra - I grew up with the Beatles, please don't mention that I'm that old, OK? I started listening to them back in 1965 because my older sister had some of the Beatles 45s, do you remember 45s?

Anyway I have record collection that I started in the late 60s, and the records are all collectors records. Over 40 albums are the Beatles, I love their music.

Welcome to the group and thank you for the post.

Debra:  The "mashed potato" was a really cool dance.  I remember it well, and probably could even do it today.  I think it was made popular by a singer named Dee Dee Sharp.  Not sure, I will look it up.

Gary:  You'd better be very careful with Debra.  I bet she could be a real "heartbreaker" if she wanted to.  Ahhh... the time of poodle skirts and saddle shoes.  In many ways, I wish that time was still here.

Gary, you are just too cute and sweet for your own good. As long as the love comes with a paycheck I guess we'll be okay!

Robert, I'm gonna tell everybody! :-)

Karen Anne, I think that would make a great video don't you? I want to see a video of you doing the mashed potato! The only video I could make is me eating the mashed potatos!

Deb, I missed most of that entire era, cooped up in a little practice room with my flute!  Some time in the 80's, I really got into the Beetles!  Cute post!

I'm not so sure why 'love is not enough'....i wish it were......

I feel the same way about just missing certain era's, generational highlights - its like i was always either just before or just ever, never right in the midst of them.........but then again life is not over yet, and it may still happen!

Never heard of the mashed potato. I have seen the twist. Would have loved to learn how to jitterbug. I lost my swing partner which was similar to the jitterbug. Anyway love to dance and love the Beatles!
